This can include using fear-mongering tactics, spreading misinformation, and creating false dichotomies to divert attention from the real problems. These tactics undermine the pursuit of truth and rational discourse, which are essential for a functioning democracy. Additionally, they can lead to the erosion of trust in political institutions and the polarization of society. Ultimately, these red herrings hinder the pursuit of justice and the common good. **
